Entrepreneurial approaches for a design thinking classroom

Description

This practical workshop focuses on how to bring Design Thinking and entrepreneurial learning into classrooms. It commences with a 30-minute design sprint to get participants thinking and creating. This is followed by unpacking how Design Thinking, Project Based Learning and entrepreneurial approaches connect to the V9 curriculum. Participants will emerge with new resources to use immediately to boost creativity, problem solving and student engagement.

Presenter Bio

Maree Whiteley is the Youth Curriculum and Learning Coordinator at Bloom and the Founder of The Purposeful Learning Community, which supports educators with professional learning aligned to their values. With over 30 years of experience as a teacher, lecturer and consultant, including 14 years at AISWA, she has guided educators in designing socially purposeful curriculum and pedagogy. Maree specialises in innovative pedagogies, whole‑school planning and curriculum mapping that empower teachers to tackle global issues and foster critical thinking.

Michael Hillam is the Youth Pathways Coordinator at Bloom, where he designs and facilitates entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship and leadership programs for students from K‑12. Drawing on his experience as a business founder and leader, he helps young people build creativity, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. He is also a certified UpSchool Teacher who is passionate about inspiring and equipping the next generation of changemakers.
